An Evening under the Stars
August E’s and Putman Mountain Observatory
The Putman Mountain Observatory was established under the pristine, dark skies of the Texas Hill Country and is designed for amateur astronomy, astrophotography, research, including asteroid and exoplanet searches, photometry, teaching, public education and outreach. The observatory has a research-class 16″ Ritchey Chrétien robotic telescope housed in an Ash dome.

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Cocktails and Observatory Tour
7:00 pm – Dinner
Dress warmly, temperatures will drop to the low 50s after sunset.

Directions from Fredericksburg:
- Head west on Main Street and take Highway 87 toward Mason.
- Go approximately 9 miles until you reach Ranch Road 2323.
- Turn off Highway 87 and take Ranch Road 2323 toward Prairie Mountain/Llano.
- Go 12.1 miles on Ranch Road 2323. The gate for observatory is on the left and there will be a sign
- Address is 12217.
